An Alien Encounter

With robots now ensconced on planet Mars,
equipped to show our earth the things they see,
from ancient rocks to heat scorched hills with scars,
we soon may solve an age-old mystery.
But yesterday, the sights that came from there
revealed an alien with purple eyes,
a creepy spook with red and yellow hair,
big teeth and claws. It took me by surprise.
It soon began a rabid, ghostly show
performed with malice for my benefit,
edged closer to the robot's lens. Although
when it stared back, I should have laughed at it,

what did I do? Not much beneath the sun,
but drop my spying tools at once...and run!
